Welcome to feel the love and Grace of God together at St. Mary’s Indian Orthodox Church San Antonio, Texas. The Indian Orthodox Church is in the same family of and in full communion with Oriental Orthodox Churches. Indian Orthodox Church traces its Christian heritage as far back as A.D.52 when St. Thomas, one of the Disciples of Lord Jesus Christ, who came to India and established Christianity.People of this south Indian province were known as the St.Thomas Syrian Christians because our liturgy (Holy Eucharist) were in Syriac or in Aramaic which was the language spoken by Jesus Christ himself from the early. We continue to use ‘Syriac’ language in sacraments and in prayers.

November 19 2011:

Through prayers and guidance of the Holy Spirit, H. G. Alexios Mar Eusebius, the Diocesan Bishop of Malanakara Orthodox Church elevated and declared the St. Mary's Orthodox Chapel as St. Mary's Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of San Antonio (Order/Kalpana#: DSWA/CH/58/2011).

St. Mary's Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Church of San Antonio was elevated as full fledged Parish under SW Diocese of America. This parish was established in 2010 as a small chapel with a humble begriming.  We are showered abundant Grace of our Lord Almighty and protected by the invisible "hands" throughout our journey thus far. The church is an independent parish under South-West America Diocese of Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Syrian Church.

December 26 2010

During the initial stage, St. Mary's Orthodox Chapel  was recognized as the chapel of St. Gregorious Orthodox Church Houston under the vicarship of Rev. Fr. P. M. Cherian. We, the members of this parish, are indebted to Rev. Fr. P. M Cherian and grateful to the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church of Houston for their the support that they have rendered over the course of one (2011) year.
